Meta is introducing direct messages for Threads to all users.

Following the launch of a preliminary test of Threads DMs earlier this month, Meta has now declared a worldwide expansion of this feature, which will provide all users with a dedicated Threads-specific inbox for private conversations.

As illustrated in the example screens, all Threads users will soon have access to a dedicated Threads inbox, which can be found in the lower function bar. This will enable you to communicate with your connections through a Threads-specific private chat, rather than it being an extension of your Instagram inbox.
